Rutherford Dust Restoration Team Napa River Project

Goals & Accomplishments:

Spring 2002 Idea germinates to create a Napa River restoration project. Ellie Insley & Associates is hired.
Spring-Fall 2002 Landowners meetings take place to establish goals and objects for a Napa River restoration project. During these meetings, landowners donate money to begin Conceptual Plan.
Nov. 2002 Rutherford Dust Society (RDS) Board of Directors vote unanimously to create the RDRT subcommittee.
Jan. 2003 RDS creates the RDRT subcommittee and announces Napa River Restoration Project.
Dec. 2003

Presentation of the Napa River Project Conceptual Plan (CP) to Rutherford and Napa Valley winery owners, growers, land owners and local government officials.

Vineyard owner Andy Beckstoffer founds the Rutherford River Rats, a group of wineries and landowners committed to donate funds to the restoration project. The group raised $15,000 during the presentation of the CP. Beckstoffer Vineyards, Beaulieu Vineyards, Niebaum-Coppola Estate Winery and Sutter Home Winery pledged donations.

Mar. 2004 RDRT presents to Oakville District landowners, who agree to join the project. The scope of the effort extends to include a half-mile reach of the Napa River in the Oakville District.
Spring 2004 Submitted grant applications requesting $600,000 in funds from Napa County Measure A earmarked for flood control projects and Coastal Conservancy.
